Jo has just finished her latest project. The mosaic was commissioned by the Chartham branch of the national charity Stillbirth And Neonatal Deaths (SANDS), and will form the centrepiece of the Baby Garden memorial space in Ashford town centre. It was created by Jo in a way which enabled families to be actively involved in placing the tesserae in this lasting memorial. It was a moving and empowering experience for all those involved. The mosaic is currently being cast and should be in place in the garden from Easter. Thanks to photographer Graham Baker for allowing us to use his photograph of Jo working on the mosaic. Happy New Year.
Jo is delighted to have two new commissions one for SANDS charity in Ashford and one for Aldington Primary School. Both of these projects will involve workshops; this may mean that on some days the shop will not be open so if you're planning a visit please phone 01303 250717 to check that the shop is open. There are still places available on the courses so if you fancy learning a new skill for a new year or would like to buy someone a course as a gift book now!
Jo is currently working on an exciting new range of mosaic kits using wheeled glass cutters and glass tiles. They should be ready by the end of October so check back for more details. In the meantime the Roman Flower kit with porcelain tiles is a good way to get started, see it here.

"My Mosaic Course with Jo Letchford was booked for me as a Christmas present from my daughter. It is the best present anyone could have bought me! My daughter and I both had such a wonderful day. Jo was wonderful, a delightful teacher with a witty sense of humour. She allowed us free expression in our work, which for us both is really important. She is inspirational and generous. We came away thrilled with our work. I would highly recommend her to anyone interested in pursuing a new craft or hobby. She has an excellent display of her exquisite work on display. She has a good selection of tools, kits, tiles and books for sale.
Jo has just added the dates for all the one day mosaic making courses during 2012. Each course will run from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm. Spaces are limited to ensure that all students receive enough personal help and advice. Gift vouchers are available so you could give a course as a present. Full details of the courses and the dates can be found on the Course page. As spaces are limited they do fill up fast, so if you are thinking of booking a place please do not leave it too late.
