Penguin mosaic by Jo Letchford Mosaic Artist, Folkestone, Kent

LATEST NEWS

August 2016

I’m enjoying the freedom to explore my textile work now that I’m no longer at the shop but I’m still available for commissions and community mosaics. The image above is from the recently finished Kingsdown and Ringwould Church of England Primary School mosaic and makes a cheerful entrance to the school. The design was created from the children’s ideas and each child was able to place several tiles in the mosaic.
My next commission is a lottery funded heritage mosaic for St Peter on the East Cliff Church in Folkestone. The PCC were unanimously in favour of the design I submitted and I hope to start work on it soon. Images of the work in progress will appear on their website.

My last day of trading from the shop will be Saturday 26 September. I have been here for 8 years and am very grateful to the Creative Foundation for giving me the opportunity to run a successful business in the Creative Quarter.
I am looking forward to having some time and space to develop my own work, but will continue to undertake commissions and workshops although I shall not be offering my mosaic day courses at present.

My hands have finally reached the age where I cannot work for so long at a time on my mosaics. I have a delightful penguin commission and a public commission for the Globe and Laurel project in Walmer to keep me busy but after this I will be closing the shop in September.
Until then my opening hours are Wednesday - Saturday 10.30 - 2.00 and I am offering 20% discount on materials and mosaics so come and buy some while they’re still here!

QR Code mosaic by Jo Letchford Mosaic Artist, Folkestone, Kent

September 2013

Have you noticed those strange black and white patterns that are appearing everywhere from shop windows to magazines? They are QR codes and when scanned with a smart phone they give users quick access to information such as a website without having to type anything into their phone. Jo is now offering a new service for businesses, she has started designing and making mosaic QR codes to be placed outside shops. Combining an ancient craft with new technology using smart phones, this service is an exciting development. So far she has orders from Nik & Trick Photographic Services as well as a couple of others so it looks like there is some real interest in it already.
The mosaics are 350mm square and there's a special introductory offer price from £85.00.
